Long time Rudius fans fondly remember our past Napa Valley Cabernet blends and often ask when the ‘Napa’ blend is coming their way… Say hello to the early bird in the family — the 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. All of our vineyard designates from the 2016 vintage are proving to be late bloomers, needing a bit of bottle age and air to really show their best. So we decided to bring you a wine that would drink beautifully on release. A blend of our top vineyard designate Cabernets from the 2016 vintage, this wine showcases the best aspects of each vineyard site — the elegant tannins of Savory Estate, the rich, mineral-driven backbone of ‘Kaley’, and the plush fruits of Farella. The 2016 Napa Cab is more red-fruit focused than our single vineyard Cabs, showing lovely pops of Bing cherry and currant, while undertones of damp slate and earthy black truffle lend complexity and depth to the palate. On pop-and-pour, this Cabernet is simply delicious and very approachable, but it shines even brighter after a little bit of air in the glass. Cheers.
